Ezra 6:13 (CSB)
“Then Tattenai governor of the region west of the Euphrates River, Shethar-bozenai, and their colleagues diligently carried out what King Darius had decreed.”
Tattenai came to shut the work down. He was the Persian inspector over the region west of the Euphrates, and he had heard that the building had started again without permission (Ezra 5:3). So he wrote to King Darius and asked for a search of the royal archives.
The search turned up Cyrus’s old decree in a summer residence, and it said more than the builders had claimed. Persia was to pay for the house.
So Tattenai came back. Not with a stop order. With a checkbook.
Read the verse again and watch what happened to the man. The official who challenged the work is now the official enforcing it. God did not merely stop the opposition. He made the opposition serve the work it was meant to halt. The opposition is running errands for God’s people.
Twenty-one years had passed since the foundation was laid. Twenty-one years of letters and stalled progress and nothing to show for it. That is a long time to hold a promise and see no movement. But we cannot confuse delay with defeat, and we cannot read difficulty as abandonment. If God starts a work, He brings it to completion. He does not stop halfway through.
That is the ground under your own hard season. The work He began in you, He means to finish (Philippians 1:6). Nothing set against Him has ever put Him behind schedule. Your task is not to figure out how He will do it. Your task is to keep your hands on the work He gave you.

Name the obstacle you have been asking God to take away. He may not intend to remove it. He may intend to put it to work. Keep your hands on the task He has given you and leave the outcome to the One who has never yet failed to finish.
